Daring Digits - Why So Serious?

Hi, girls!

I've been on a HUGE Etsy kick lately - so expect to see lots of indie polish this week and next! Today I have a follow-up to last week's Catching Fire. Daring Digits recently stocked more polish, so make sure you check out the Etsy shop! Today I have Why So Serious? - no reason to point out the Dark Knight reference, right? :D Why so serious is a grape purple shimmer polish with micro-fine and larger hex green glitter. I LOVE this color combo so I was beyond excited when I saw this polish! The formula was a little on the thick side, but not too bad. This is two coats with topcoat.

Awesome color combo, right?
Have a great day! -Dana

Sephora by OPI - Rumba Romance

Good morning!

I've been shopping in my stash a lot lately and trying (.....trying...kind of failing....) not to buy as much. In my OPI Helmer drawer I found this copper/gold beauty and remembered buying it right before I moved from Cleveland. I immediately remembered reading raves reviews on Rumba Romance and just to finally swatched it. OMG. OMG. OMG. This baby GLOWS. I MEAN GLOWS! This was supposed to be the first polish I swatched but I loved it so dang much that I put off my swatch-a-thon for two days so I could stare at it in the sun. In the words of Jacqui, it's amazeballs! This is three coats. Totally worth every stinkin one. :D

Do you have any polishes that glows that you can't get enough of?

Retro Sunday Squared with Scholarly Nail - Revlons

I can't believe it's already been a week! It's time again for another installment of Jacqui and Dana's Retro Sunday Squared and today our pick is Revlon! I love Revlon oh so much. They have a drawer and a half in the Helmer are one of my favorite brands, especially their vintage beauties. Some of my favorite reds are Revlons as well! They somehow always manage to blow my mind with their reds. Case in point - today polish - From Russia With Love. It was a part of the Limited Addition Holiday 2002 007 collections. I want them ALL - check them out on this link. I love my thrift store here so much. This bottle is less then half full, so I'm sure I'll never more than swatch it, and it took a good amount of thinner. Totally worth it - this red is HOT And the shimmer is sexy. Just like 007. ;) Two coats.

Next up I have Punch Chrome from their Top Speed Chrome line. They had to keep up with the Sally Hansen chromes I suppose! :p This is the only Revlon Chrome I own and I think it's pretty and shiny but not as chrome-y as I would like. Still pretty and had really nice formula. Two coats and I coat topcoat, it dried a little dull.

Have a great Sunday!

Old and New - Ruby Kisses Blue Pearl & OPI Goin' Ape-ricot!

Welcome back!

I'm just going to cut to the chase today since I'm running a tad late - today is an Old and New post! for the old polish today I have a Ruby Kisses polish that I received as a freebie in a blog sale order - Blue Pearl. I have become a HUGE Ruby Kisses fan, and make it a deep, glowy blue? I'm sold. I think I have a ten to fifteen blues of the shade, all dupes of one another, but I love them all equally. The formula on this was actually a little runny. This is three coats.

For the new polish today I have an OPI to share. I don't really own a lot of OPI's and I have to admit with all the other amazing brands out there I usually pass on their collections. (except for their upcoming Spider-man collection! The comic book geek in my is grinning ear to ear) I won't deny the fact though, that their vintage HTF greens top my wish list. (Rainforest and Real Teal) But when I came across this sparkly glassed flecked orange at the thrift store for $2.99 I couldn't pass it up. Goin' Ape-ricot! is a sheer and juicy light orange polish that really looks great with a few thin coats and screams summer! I'll let ya have the one, OPI! :P This is three coats.

Have a great day! -d

Layering Fun - China Glaze Stone Cold & Naturistics Gleam

Hey ladies!

I know it's been a while, but it's time for me to bust out another Layering Fun post that mixes a China Glaze Hunger Games polish and a vintage glitter. :) These posts were so fun for me to do, so I thought it was time for another! I though it was really creative that China Glaze threw in a matte polish in their Hunger Games collection, I'm in love with the whole collection, but this one really stood out in a great way. Stone Cold's matte formula was FANTASTIC for a matte polish. Smooth as can be and this is ONE coat. ONE. Perfection. Well done, China Glaze.

To layer over Stone Cold I chose another Naturistics glitter to lend it some sparkle. I really love their glitters. Gleam is a clear-based polish jam-packed with holo glitter. This is one coat. Easy manicure! Two coats total for this layering combo. :) I'm impressed.

See ya same time tomorrow!

Old and New - Maybelline Blue Aluminum & Claire's Technopop

Hello again!

It's time today for another installment of Old and New! These posts are so fun and gratifying to me because although my true polish love is all things vintage, there are lots of awesome new polish that I don't want to overlook as well. For the Old today I have a Maybelline Aluminum to share, Blue Aluminum. I only have a few from this line, but the ones that I do have I really enjoy. Nothin like a good old fashioned chrome polish! :) Blue Aluminum is a sky blue chrome and it really has a glowing feel to it. I really enjoyed the formula, I completely could have gotten away with one coat, but I ended with two.

For my New collection I have a polish that just plain confuses me. A LOT. I bought this polish from Claire's when I bought Candy Shop and since all polish was buy one, get one half off - I decided to try one of these layered polishes. What I expected and what I got were two different things. The bottle top says "Do not shake". Fine. But the only color that the brush can reach and that translates to the nail is the grey/purple color with holo glitter. No blue. No pink. It dried matte so this is with top coat. Two coats. I have to say, I like the color of the polish, but not for what I bought. Pretty lame, Claire's. Pretty lame.

Looks cool, right? NOT!
See ya tomorrow!

Daring Digits - Catching Fire

Hey now!

Let's just all admit that as polish addicts, we have made indie polish beyond popular in a big, fat way! Etsy shops sell out within seconds, and creators often times can't keep up with restocking due to the crazy demand. These mad polish scientist mix amazing glitter combos and then name them after out favorite books, movies, & TV shows. And we eat the sh*t up! LOL! I cannot begin to tell you how many polishes I've bought for the name ALONE! Daring Digits is a new Etsy shop for me, and the two colors I wanted only came in minis. Totally fine by me seeing as one of them was named after the Hunger Games! That would be my polish to share for today, Catching Fire.

Catching Fire is an amazing polish to represent The Hunger Games. Sorry, China Glaze, but Daring Digits nailed it on the HEAD! This blazing polish starts off as a firey red polish with copper undertones and thrown into the mix is fine holo glitter and LOTS of bar glitter as well - totally casting off the feel of a roaring fire! My one teeny complaint is the base polish was a little thick, it tended to hide some of the bar glitter and the formula took some getting used to. Totally worth the patience in my book. :) Two coats. One coat of Gelous & one coat of Seche Vite.

This polish in on FIRE!
Do you own any Daring Digits frankens?

Old and New - Avon Color Last Mosaic Plum & Savvy Femme Couture Berry Slush

Greetings, fellow polish addicts!

Today I'm starting this post off right with my old polish. I don't own many Avon polishes, not many of them suite my fancy so I think including this one I have three? Four? Either way, after falling in love with this gem, it's time I gave Avon a closer look. I bring to you Mosaic Plum! Mosaic Plum is well, a plum polish (duh!) with a copper shimmer that really sets this polish on FIRE! The color combo and the effects it has are phenomenal! I bought it from eBay. I was the only one bidding and I think with shipping I paid a whopping three bucks. Two coats. Still drooling. :P

For the new section for today I have my lone Savvy Femme Couture polish to share. I bought Berry Slush from Sally's for 99 cents recently and it really is a fun color. Turquoise chromes win in my book and the formula was pretty great. Yet another brands I need to give a closer look! Two coats.

Have a great rest of your day! -Dana

Layering Fun - Hard Candy Trailer Trash & OPI Save Me

Good Mornin'!

I hope everyone's weekend was great! I have a stunning manicure I wore recently to share on this fine Monday. Back when the Nicki Minaj collection was released there was only a lone polish I purchased and that's today's glitter- Save Me. Due to having an overflowing stash (not that I'm complaining :P) I haven't worn it until now and I don't know why. I'm in bar glitter Heaven! (my glitter of choice as of late) I love Save Me, a clear-based polish with micro-fine silver glitter with holo bar glitter. This is two coats over Hard Candy's Trailer Trash. I love how this combo shines and glows!

Bar glitter = current weakness.

Underneath the glitter fun is Hard Candy's Trailer Trash. This is the version that was re-released in 2008, but I definitely remember owning this polish back when I was a teenager. Ah, the good old days. Trailer Trash is a silver chrome polish that actually applies relatively thin. This is three coats.

Hope your Monday goes by fast! ;)
