HALLOWEEN MONTH! Retro Sunday Squared with The Scholarly Nail - Wet N Wild: Fantasy Makers

Hey, ladies!

It's officially my favorite time of the year - it's FALL! I love Fall more than anything. The smells outdoors, the scents that companies release, the clothing, the polish (DUH!), and Halloween! I think I'm going to be a Ghost-buster this year. Anyhoo, today marks the beginning of my month of nothing but Halloween polish - and what better way to kick it off then with a Retro Sunday Squared post with Jacqui?! Today we decided to share our older Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers polishes. I really thought I had way more then I do. Maybe I sold them on my blog sale or swapped them? Who knows.

First up I have Fiery to share. And fiery it IS! WOWZA! I totally forgot I had this one, I bought it in a blog sale about a year ago. It's molden, glowing, orange magic! I almost have no words to describe this polish, pictures really don't do it enough justice. Think CG Harvest Moon on steroids. My bottle is only about 1/2 full, and I really need a back up. Two coats. What a perfect fall orange!

Next up I have Black Ice. I really love these keep burgundy based polishes with green shimmer. Think Urban Decay Bruise. There's just so much dimension with these types of polish, they have vampy yet mysterious feel. Black Ice is a shade that Wet N Wild released a couple times I believe but this is the only version that I own. Formula was pretty thin, this is two coats.

Urban Decay - Midnight Cowboy

Hello again!

Today I have a new *squee!* vintage Urban Decay polish to share, Urban Cowboy. This is the polish that started my massive two-part swap with the ever amazing, totally sweet Lani. Did I ever mention how much you rock? <3

Urban Cowboy is one of those classic vintage Urban Decays. I totally remember actually owning this as a teenage back when they were sold at Nordstrom. It's just such a great nude polish, what can I say?! At the base is a creamy nude shimmer polish with holo glitter! Holo glitter makes everything better, it seriously does. This is a very office appropriate polish. Two coats.

Check out that glitter!
Have a great day!

A few more from the Face Of Australia Barbados Collection!

Hello there polish lovers!

Today I have two more polishes from the ever-so-lovely Aussie brand Face Of Australia's Barbados collection. I adore each Face Of Australia polish I own since I'm in love with their brush and formula. They're outstanding. My dear and lovely friends Lauren has been hooking me up with polishes from the collection piece by piece. Thanks again, girl! You're a polishes lovers dream come true! :D

First up today we have Bright Lights, Pink City. Close to Pretty Serious's Claris, anyone? This is more orange toned I suppose. I LOOOOOOOVE this polish, it's a perfect summer shade! I'm even thinking of slappin' this on my toes as a last hoorah before fall really starts setting in here in Virginia Beach. The gold shimmer makes this such a knock out. Two coats.

Next up we have Party At The Gap. Not quite sure on the name here, anyone wanna give me a hint? ;p Party At The Gap is an odd shade for a summer collection, but hey it adds variety! Again, formula was amazing on this charcoal grey polish. The shimmer looks silver at first glance, but it's actually multicolored! (Think SH In A Flurry - that shimmer.) Two coats.

I still have more to share from this collection!

Layering Fun - Smackers Blueberry Blast & Orly Obsidian Desire

We meet again!

I hope you're all having a great week, I've been having a blast with my mom and brother being here! I'm going to be so sad when they leave :(. Today I have such a fun vintage polish layering combo to share today, and it starts off with a Smackers polish, Blueberry Blast. Jacqui sent this glitter bomb to me, and I hope one day I can get my hands on more! I totally remember these when I was a kid, they're scented. I didn't let this dry long enough I think while swatching, because I didn't smell blueberry. Blueberry Blast is a navy tinted clear-based polish with a rainbow of mirco fine glitter. It has such a cosmic feel over black! This is two coats over Orly's Obsidian Desire, up next.

Underneath the amazing glitter I'm sure you're still gawking over, I have a vintage Orly to share - Obsidian Desire. I really miss the old Orly bottles. They just felt heavier and sturdier, if that makes sense. *Shrugs* Obsidian Desire is a great black creme, it was opaque in two coats. This may be my new favorite black!

If anyone comes across any Smackers glitters, send em my way! *winks*

Nail Fetish - Captive

Hello!

I own A LOT of Nail Fetish polishes. A LOT. I love them now and I loved them as a pre-teen in the 90's. Over the last winter the Dollar Tree was swarming with these nostalgic polishes. Over time I scoured all the Dollar Trees in the area and even scored some on blog sales! I think I have well over a dozen now! I'm not sure how many there are total floating out there so it was a great surprise when Paulina sent one to me that I didn't have! Thanks once again, girl! :)

Today I have Captive to share. I thought Alien and Storm were my two favorite Nail Fetish's, but now I think this gem is! LOOK AT THAT SHIMMA! Captive is a medium muted, yet bright sky blue polish loaded with silver shimmer. It's just so pretty. Two coats.

Have a great day!

L'Oreal - Brit Invasion

Hello there!

Today I a new L'Oreal polish to share, Brit Invasion. I feel like I never see new L'Oreal polish displays here in Virginia Beach! I don't know why, I see everything else as it comes out. Hmmm.... Anyhoo, this is from their London Fall LE collection. Paulina luckily came to my rescue! She sent this along with lots of other goodies, thanks again, babe! Make sure you check out her blog, The Gore Princess

Brit Invasion in a milky medium chocolate brown/taupe polish with with amazing gold shimmer. Such a warm and fuzzy color LOL if that makes sense! Great for winter more so than fall in my opinion. Formula was really great, this is two coats.

I didn't notice the sparse green glitter in there as well until I saw this macro shot!
Anyone end up snatching this up as well?

Revlon StreetWear - FX Flash (green version)

Monday's suck. That's just the truth, plain and simple.

So let's spice it up with a jaw-dropping glitter! Today I have one of the most sought after Revlon StreetWear glitters, FX Flash - the green version (there's also a blue). This heck of a glitter is a decant gifted to me by Jacqui. Thanks again, love! Gah, I love it so much! (I'm wearing it right now actually! :p) One day I need to not only nab the full-sized version, but I need the blue as well. FX Flash is a clear-based polish that starts off with teeny, tiny black micro glitter. (It's hard to see since I layered it over black, you can see it much better in the bottle shot at the end of the post.) The bell of the ball in this polish is the mind-blowing green glitter that flashes to gold. I love glitter, I love green, and I love duochrome. Color me happy! Two coats over two coats of Wet W Wild black creme.

Yep, that's right. Freakin' fantastic!
Ok, who's drooling now?! :P

Retro Sunday Squared with The Scholarly Nail - Vintage L'Oreals.... & IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!

It's that time again! Retro Sunday Squared! oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! I'm the big 2-8. Ugh, thirty is creeping up on me.

Jacqui and I picked vintage L'Oreal polishes to share today. It's very fitting since she gifted me a BUNCH recently and it gives me an opportunity to show off two of them! L'Oreal has so many amazing vintage polishes out there, many of their glitter will forever be high on my wish list! Today I have two great ones to share, so let's start things off with Black Emerald.

Black Emerald is from their Colour Endure line. Holy cow, my lil' green polish lovin' heart is going to burst out of it's chest. WWWOOOWWW! Jacqui's you're my hero. Seriously. My hero. I am so in love with this polish! It's name does it justice, a blackened emerald green shimmer polish. As much as I drool over the outcome, the formula was tricky and difficult. I had to use the right base coat for it to lay even and it was very runny. Pooling aside, it ended beautifully. Two coats.

Next up I have quite the polish to share. When I unwrapped this bad boy I couldn't believe my eyes! There's no name on this polish like a good majority of vintage L'Oreal's - so we're just going to call it by it's number, 405. Oh, 405. Where do I start? Have you ever had and/or seen a blood orange? (If not Google it now, then come right back.) This polish mimics it's color perfectly, a red red jelly that leans to the orange side. What could make that even better? Why add orange micro glitter of course! Two coats of amazing.
