China Glaze - It's A Trap-Eze!

Allo!

I'm digging my current manicure so much, I just had to post it today! Life doesn't allow me any swatching time right now, so I've been settling on posting my manicures that I'm wearing. :) I'm starting to get a little back-logged so I'll start trying to play catch up soon.

Today I have It's A Trap-Eze! to share. I don't know why, but I've been wearing a lot less vintage polish and a lot more newer ones. Hmm. Weird. I received It's A Trap-Eze! from my recent Secret Cupid swap, it had been on my wish list since I first laid eyes on this collection. What's not to love?! Milky pale blue base loaded with multi-sized rainbow glitter. So awesome. Right up my alley. Formula was thin, but of course it makes for great layering looks for this bad boy! This is three coats. LOVE.

Hard Candy: A tale of two Frigids

HAPPY SATURDAY!

Today I have a post that has been only an idea until now! Hard Candy re-released their old polish names in 2008, all but completely changing everything but the polish name. The only double that I have in Frigid, and the only thing they have in common is that they're both blue LOL! :)

Let's check out the original version first! Oh, this bad boy is dated indeed! Anyone else remember when metallic frosts dominated the polish scene in the 90's and early 00's? This would be a prefect example of that. I love the actual color of this polish, but MAN the brushstrokes are kinda killin' me! I love the way this polish glows, though. I'm torn with this one, ladies. Two coats.

Now for the later released 2008 version, which I LOVE! A pale, sheer blue polish LOADED with iridescent micro glitter. WOW. ZA! This is three layers although I can't wait to bust out the layering possibilities. Endless! I really love polishes that glow this way. Just beautiful.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Layering Fun - Revlon Dark Pleasures Midnight Affair & Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Black Magic

Hey fellow polish addicts!

If you're like me, you look forward to Wet N Wild's Fantasy Makers collections around Halloween and love finding the unique ones from the past. I have quite the collection of them, and MAN a lot of them are great! Today's polish is no exception - this is the rainbow bar glitter version of Black Magic! The lovely Jacqui hooked me up with this gem. What makes it so fun is not only the rainbow bar glitter, but how thin and small they are! I don't have anything like this is my stash. This is a well saturated polish too, this is two coats pictured. LOVE!

SO. FUN!
Underneath Black Magic is an older Revlon from their Dark Pleasures line, Midnight Affair. I remember this line coming out around 2006-2007 I believe? I love me a good black-based polish with blue shimmer and this is no exception. I really enjoyed the formula as well, this is two coats.

Have a great day!

Sinful Colors - Cinderella

Good Morning!

Today I have a quick NOTD to share. I was going to save this polish for an Old and New post, but it just stood out so strongly on its own I have to give it its own spotlight. It's Sinful's Cinderella, baby! I never saw this amazing polish at drug stores here in Virginia Beach, and thankfully my friend Rie sent me this bottle from Michigan and I couldn't be more grateful. Thanks again, girl! AAAGGHH I LOVE Cinderella! Baby blue polish with stunning pink shimmer? OMG I want a gallon of this polish! Formula was a tricky, it took three coats to even out. TOTALLY WORTH IT! :D

Anyone else head over heels over Cinderella, too?

Old and New - Maybelline Blue Aluminum & Claire's Technopop

Hello again!

It's time today for another installment of Old and New! These posts are so fun and gratifying to me because although my true polish love is all things vintage, there are lots of awesome new polish that I don't want to overlook as well. For the Old today I have a Maybelline Aluminum to share, Blue Aluminum. I only have a few from this line, but the ones that I do have I really enjoy. Nothin like a good old fashioned chrome polish! :) Blue Aluminum is a sky blue chrome and it really has a glowing feel to it. I really enjoyed the formula, I completely could have gotten away with one coat, but I ended with two.

For my New collection I have a polish that just plain confuses me. A LOT. I bought this polish from Claire's when I bought Candy Shop and since all polish was buy one, get one half off - I decided to try one of these layered polishes. What I expected and what I got were two different things. The bottle top says "Do not shake". Fine. But the only color that the brush can reach and that translates to the nail is the grey/purple color with holo glitter. No blue. No pink. It dried matte so this is with top coat. Two coats. I have to say, I like the color of the polish, but not for what I bought. Pretty lame, Claire's. Pretty lame.

Looks cool, right? NOT!
See ya tomorrow!

Old and New - Revlon Street Wear's Silver Lining & Hard Candy's Sky

Why hello there!

Today I'm trying to get back on track with my Old and New posts- especially because I've gotten my mitts on some amazing new vintage polishes! My stash keeps growin and growin! Today I thought I'd go with one of my new(er) bought Street Wears to start off this post. I remember silver polishes being among my favorites back in the day! All the cool kids were wearing them ,right? :P

Oh, old formula metallics. You're glow-y and bright in pigment but streaky and awkward with the brush strokes. Grrrrrr! Silver Lining is a love/hate polish for me. I appreciate the polish for what it is, but there was no getting around the brush strokes. Ah well, it's a Street Wear so I'm still in love! This was two coats.

Metallic goodness!

Next up I have a polish from the newer Hard Candy line at Walmart. I honestly don't own many from the new line, only because I'm such a huge vintage Hard Candy fan. Sky has been a vintage Hard Candy polish I've been lemming after forever and I just can't seem to get it with a reasonable price tag. SO, next best thing is a new version! Sky is a gorgeous polish. Sky blue and loaded with baby blue shimmer. I am in love! I think it's going to be a great pedicure color as well! The formula was streaky and patchy, so I needed three coats to even it out. Totally worth it!

GREAT, RIIIIGHT?

Have a great week! -Dana

Revlon - Whimsical

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Sorry it took so long to get this post up, but I worked 10 hours Christmas Eve and the fiance and I exchanged presents. He really is amazing - I got a red Helmer (the boy listens!) an iPhone, and a Steve Madden wallet. I'm a lucky, lucky girl! Love you, Jeff! I just got off work today and am really excited to show off this lovely Glitter In The Air Dupe - Whimsical from Revlon. I know everyone is so excited over this polish! I've had a lemming for GITA FOREVER and thanks to Jacqui my lemming is no more! Thanks again, love! <3

This is two coats of Whimsical over two coats of Etude House's BL501. As much as I really like this combo, I think next time I'm going to go for a more grey-toned light blue. Either way, this is such a "Dana polish". I love polishes with a whimsical feel to them. I need three gallons of this polish. THREE. Whimsical is a VERY sheer light blue polish with fine shimmer and light pink and baby blue hex glitter. *sighs* So in love with this polish. :)

Whimsical wonderland.

Revlon Street Wear - Flashlight

Hey now!

Today I have a polish I was VERY excited to see for a descent price finally on Amazon - a Revlon Street Wear polish!!! I used to have some of these when I was younger, and I kick myself repeatedly for getting rid of them years and years ago. I can't wait to collect as many as I can, they come in such creative colors! Here is Flashlight -

Flashlight is a silver and light blue nearly duochrome shimmer - GREAT for layering! I paired three coats over two coats of Revlon Top Speed's Royal polish, I thought it turned out great! Gotta love the smell of these older polishes - the smell of before 3-free! :P I cannot WAIT to get my hands on more of these - oh, the memories! Do any of you have any Street Wear polishes? These and vintage Urban Decay and Hard Candy's really take me back!

Wet N Wild Ice Baby Color Icon collection - Back Alley Deals & China Glaze Indian Ocean

 Good morning, my lovely followers!

I have had a rough week. My Twitter account got hacked, I can't access anything to changed my password or do anything with my account. Twitter support is awful. I think I may have to create a new account. WHICH means starting all over again. Big. Bummer. Really. Big. I'm very sad about it. :( Alas, polish life must go on! Today I have one of the four Wet N Wild Ice Baby Color Icon polishes that my lovely friend Rie sent me, Back Alley Deals. Rie, you're the best!

I only asked Rie to get me four of the eight glitters - and BOY I think I need  might need the remaining four! :p With fine vibrant purple glitter and hot larger fuchsia glitter pieces, I can't wait to swatch the rest of these beauties! I have to add though, that these are very thirsty glitters - I still haven't quite figured out the right glitter topcoat combo without it getting sucked in. Ah well!

And now the beauty behind the glitter!
Indian Ocean was a beautiful older China Glaze polish that my amazing friend Jacqui sent me (along with lots of other fun polishes! THANKS, GIRL!) for my birthday. I have the biggest soft spot ever for older polishes and this baby was such a surprise! Indian Ocean is a stunner! It's a black-based jelly/creme polish with a duochrome feel to it of purple and blue. LOVE IT! This was two lovely coats.
