Valentine's Day Layering Fun! Zoya Elisa & Sally Hansen Hard As Nails 14 Karat

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

I hope you all have a much more romantic day/night planned then me, Jeffrey and I are both working tonight. Ah well, we had our big dinner date a few nights back. <3 Today I wanted to show off a bright and Valentine's Day-esque manicure.

Elisa is one of the three Zoya's I recently got during there last promotion. I freaking LOVE this red! It's so in-your-face vibrant - just like Pretty Serious Santa's Sunburn actually! (Sorry Zoya, PS is still my fave. The gold shimmer wins all.) Formula was great, this is two smooth coats. As much as I love Zoya's formula, their polishes tend to chip almost instantly on me. Sucks. On my accent nail I have two coats of vintage Sally Hansen Hard As Nails 14 Karat, a FABULOUS recent Dollar Store find.

HAVE A GREAT VALENTINE'S DAY! <3 <3 <3

Old and New - L'Oreal Jet Set Boogie & Zoya Ivanka

Hey girls!

It's time yet again for an Old and New post, and I've got some great polishes to share today. I have another polish to share from my blog sale order from Kaz, and today it's a L'Oreal Jet Set polish, Boogie. (BTW - being a HUGE Nightmare Before Christmas fan, the name alone makes me smile!) Boogie is a great black polish with silver shimmer that leans to a slight green/purple shimmer. It doesn't translate to the nail as strong as it does in the bottle, but still awesome! Two smooth coats.

For my New polish I have a Zoya that came out in their Summer 2011 collection that has seen sitting in my Helmer this whole time! It's a great vibrant green glass-flecked green polish with an added twist! In the bottle is has an oil-slick duochrome that comes out! (See bottle shot after swatches) So cool! This is two coats.

Do you have any polishes with an added punch in the bottle? :)

Random Friday - China Glaze Zombie Zest & Zoya Luna

Happy Friday!

Today I decided to put together two random sets of swatches I had lyin' around - and thought I'd call it Random Friday! Fitting, right? LOL :D Let's start things off with one of my favorite China Glaze polishes - Zombie Zest. We all know how much I love green polish, and I've been in love with this murky glitter green from the moment I laid my eyes on it!

AAGGGHHH I love it so much! Zombie Zest is the weirdest green I have in my collection and that's why I love it so much! It's a strange murky green loaded with green glitter. China Glaze nails it every time with their Halloween glitters - It's Alive was a favorite for me as well from this past Halloween's collection. Formula was smooth, this is three coats.

Well done, China Glaze!
Next up we have Zoya's Luna. I have an Issue with buying Zoya polishes for the names. :P Since I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, Luna was an obvious choice - not to mention it's a glitter polish!!! YES!!! Now onto the pictures! Ps - tried something different and swatched with my right hand since I recently broke two nails on my swatching hand. I really like the way they turn our but it just wasn't the same! It was award to photograph.

Luna is freaking great - sheer silver polish JAM PACKED with silver silver glitter. I went with two coats and loved the way it turned out! Side note - this polish wore like IRON! I wore it for almsot FOUR DAYS and it didn't chip and had minimal tip wear. :)

Lovely, right? :P
Have a wonderful Friday! <3 Dana

Old and New - Maybelline Matte Grey & Zoya's Irene

Happy Saturday, everyone!

My allergies are out of control today, I hope everyone's feeling a lot better than me! I recently found a blog sale that had a slew of Maybelline's for only a buck a pop, so I naturally grabbed eight! :P I decided to start off with one of the Matte's that I got - Matte Grey. I don't own many matte polishes, and now I just don't remember why.

Matte Grey is awesome! I was surprised by how good the formula was - nice and smooth and dried relatively fast. I love the gunmetal color - it has a real edge to it. I added top coat for the next picture but I think I really like it more as a matte. This is two coats.

Next up I have the newest member of my Zoya collection, Irene. I won this  on eBay and since I was the only one bidding, I got it for a STEAL! Basically just paid shipping. Irene reminded me of China Glaze's Zombie Zest, that murky color of green. It took three coats to get the opacity were I needed it to be. I really like the green Irene ended up being, a medium shimmery green. I just wasn't crazy about the formula - very running for Zoya.

Old and New - Vintage Hard Candy Angel & Zoya's Willow

Welcome, fellow polish addicts!

It's time for yet another Old and New post. I hope these are as fun for you as they are for me. It's Thursday! Which means tomorrow is Friday! Which means I'm off all weekend! WOO HOO! Let's start this post off right with one of my newly bought vintage Hard Candy polishes, Angel. Let's not let the frosty 90's-ness of the polish put you off. It's a polish for the era! Let's take a look!

Angel is a frosty nude/peach polish with hidden surprise - it was almost opaque after just one coat! A frosty one-coater?!? I was pleasantly happy with this polish for that reason and for the fact that I know once I get a tan this will look MUCH BETTER with my skin-tone! This is two coats - I never seem to stop myself at one. :P

Next up we have Zoya's Willow! As a die-hard Buffy fan, I couldn't pass up getting the Willow polish to hang out with my Buffy in my stash. :D Sometimes we all buy polishes just for the name. ADMIT IT! You know you do :) Thank goodness in this case I ended up really loving the color that came with the name. Willow is a peachy/pink polish swimming with delicate  shimmer. I think it's a great fall color! This is two coats. It was a tad on the thick side for Zoya, but I got the hang of it.

Have a great Thursday!

Old and New - Revlon Street Wear Exposed and Zoya's Sooki

Morning!

It's that time again for my Old and New post! I recently came across a few Revlon Street Wears at a thrift store here in Virginia Beach. I'm not going to lie. I Almost peed my pants. :P Why you may ask? THEY WERE 99 CENTS! The polish Gods smiled on me that day for sure! I am wishing and hoping that Revlon re-releases Street Wears. I want them all. Every. Single. One. Here is Exposed.

Exposed is my kind of color - bronze, chrome and a tiny bit frosty! It really warmed up my complexion and I love the way it looked on me. Oddly enough, I owned some Street Wears back in the day, and I really think I had this one! I swear! :P Every time I look online for Street Wears pics, I end up falling asleep having happy polish dreams of how amazing polish used to be when I was a teenager. BRING THEM BACK, REVLON! BRING THEM BACK! Two even coats.

As I know I said before with Essie's Jelly Apple, I'm getting back to my roots of my beloved red polish! Sooki is a cool-toned red creme, almost jelly polish. It has a great, crisp feel to it, reminds me of a tomato! It applied great, this is two coats. I'm glad I suckered myself into buying this summer red beauty. This is two coats.

Reswatch: Vintage Zoya Matta Harri

Hola Chicas!

Back when I first started my blog, I came across five vintage Zoya polishes and my little heart almost exploded! Only two of them had names, and the wonderful Polish Fairies at Zoya actually helped me find the names of the others - they were a great help! I only showed a few pics of each beauty back then, and I think it's time to reswatch my faves of the bunch! Here is the amazing and wonderful Matta Harri!

That's right - soak it in! I REALLY wish Zoya would re-release this chrome beauty! From what I learned from Zoya this polish is from from 90's and the formula still held up all these years. This was a smooth two coats and it actually dried in decent time, too! So ladies, keep those Zoya polishes around - they have a GREAT shelf life! This gunmetal chrome is very special in my stash.

Zoya - Dree from the Smoke Collection

Good Mornin!

Today I have for you one of the polishes from the Zoya collection this fall. They came out with two sets of polishes, Smokes (cremes) and Mirrors (shimmers). I have a few from each, and this one is Dree from the Smoke side!
When I first saw the promos for the fall lines coming out, I knew I really wanted a nice fall green polish! I was torn between Dree and Westside Warrior from the China Glaze Metro collection. Then Zoya had their Buy 1, Get 2 free offer and I couldn't pass it up! And I don't regret it one bit! Two coats was all Dree needed and I was left with an awesome olive/army green creme that cured my lemming!
Zoya polishes can be purchased at www.zoya.com for $8/bottle
