Retro Sunday Squared with Scholarly Nail - Sally Hansen Hard As Nails

Yes, indeed, it's that time again! Time for another addition of Retro Sunday Squared with Scholarly Nail! We skipped last week but we are back today and ready with Sally Hansen Hard As Nails to share with you! Boy oh boy do I love me some Hard As Nails, so it was hard to narrow it down to just two. The first I chose was Chic Creme. What can I say? The matching handles get me every time! :P Chic Creme is a great plum polish with perfectly matching shimmer, and I'd say Chic is a great name for it. I love these colors with my skin-tone. Two coats.

Next up I have Shock Frost. I know it's silly, but boo on the no matching handle on this one. Just sayin. Moving along to the actual polish, LOL, Shock Frost was a bit of a pain to photograph. It's really a frosty lime green polish, but in all my pics it leans to a yellow. Not cool, Samsung. The formula was very thin, and this is a believe four coats. Could have done five. Still a fun color that needs to be seen in person.

Etude House - BL505

It's finally Saturday! 

Today's polish is one that I've had sitting in my Helmer untried for MONTHS. I mean MONTHS. The lovely Radha sent me this beauty over the winter and up until recently I completely forgot I had it! MAN was I missing out on this glass-flecked magic in a bottle! Etude House's BL505 starts off as a bright cobalt blue jelly with multi-chrome glass flecks that flash from blue to purple to pink. They look amazing, I just wish the color shift would translate to the nail. That seems to happen with quite a few polishes. None-the-less, it's still amazing (I'm wearing it now!) and the formula was nice to work with. This is three coats.

Vintage Gems - Cover Girl Nail Slicks Midnight Forest & Ruby Kisses Khaki

TGIF!!!

I hope you all have a fun weekend planned! As for Jeff and I, we have a cookout to go to and apartments to see. Should be a fun lil Saturday and Sunday. :) Today I have two absolutely awesome vintage polishes to share. I've been completely digging deep, dark, shimmery shades lately and these were both worn as full manis. First up we have Cover Girl Nail Slicks' Midnight Forest. Midnight Forest is a blackened emerald green polish with grey shimmery undertones. Oh goodness this polish makes me drool! This is one of my favorite vampy greens I own. This is three thin coats. Another is the other polish in this post. :)

Next I have the completely amazing and mind-blowing Khaki by Ruby Kisses. WOWZA. Just WOWZA. O_O This is one of my favorite polishes I own now and this is why! Darkened khaki green with golden green shimmer. It's sophisticated yet funky. I really should have gotten a shot of it in the sun to really show off the shimmer. This is two butter smooth coats. One of my top blog sale finds EVER.

Layering Fun - Revlon Crystal Talline Gold Lame & Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Hot Sauce

Happy Thursday everyone!


Today I have one of the the unique polishes purchases of recent - A JAPANESE REVLON GLITTER! I saw this in a blog sale, and wasn't really entirely sure what I was buying until I peeled off the bubble wrap and saw it had a Japanese label on the back! Of course I tried to Google Gold Lame, but alas had no such luck. All I know is - it's Revlon. (I love me some Revlon.) It's vintage. It's glitter. It's a Japanese exclusive so rare I can't find anything on it. All in all = Dana is one happy girl. :D <--- cheesin'! Gold Lame is a clear-based polish with teeny square gold glitter. This is one layer over Hot Sauce.

Underneath I have a vintage Sally Hansen Hard As Nails - Hot Sauce. Aw man I miss polishes with matching brush handles. They really need to bring them back! Hot Sauce has been one of my favorite reds and I'm sure you can see why! Tomato red polish with golden shimmer, what I think to be a great summer red. I always seem to enjoy the formula on these, this is two coats.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! :p

China Glaze - OMG

Hey polish friends!

Ya know what? I decided to bust out some of the big guns for this Hump Day post. I'm not sure what I was saving this post for, but today seems as good a day as any, so here is OMG! This polish needs little introduction and even less explanation since we all know and either cherish or lem for this linear holo original. I have a few others from the OMG collection, but I never though I'd ever get my mitts on the namesake for the sheer cost of the HTF on either eBay or blog sales. Thank goodness I know some of the sweetest polish ladies and my Twitter friend Janice hooked me up! Thanks again, girl! With further a do, here are the pics! :D

I don't really own enough strong linear holos to render my needing an aqua base although I am debating buying one, so this is three coats - no base coat, no topcoat. I mean what can I really say? IT'S AMAZING! I know there are a gazillion crazy-amazing holos out there now but my being the vintage fan, this is one I had to find for my stash. Even my fiance Jeff was impressed. :P Silver rainbow for my nails! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

Layering Fun - Joe Fresh Orchid & Cover Girl Ice Slicks Pink Ice

Hey there! 

Today I have another fun layering combo and guess what? Yes, it includes of my beloved Cover Girl Ice Slicks - this time it's Pink Ice! I love the endless layering possibilities you get with Ice Slicks and the sparkle they lend to any polish. I cherish them all and am always excited to slap a layer on! Pink Ice is a peach(ish) clear based polish with iridescent glitter that has a definite pink tone to it. This is two coats over Joe Fresh's Orchid.

Orchid is a wonderful medium purple creme polish that really screams Spring to me! Nice formula to work with, this is two coats.

Vintage Gems - Ruby Kisses Disco Gold & Maybelline Salon Finish Maybe Navy

Hey polish lovers!

I have so many photos floating around in my computer, it's time to share these lovlies already! The first I have to share is actually the manicure I wore for St. Patty's Day. I started off with Revlon Street Wear's Toad (one of my go-to greens. In LOVE with this color!) and added two coats of Ruby Kisses Disco Gold. Disco Gold is funny to me because it's really not a gold polish at all. It's a light green sheer based polish with holo glitter. My guess is since this is a vintage polish, once upon a day it was gold and age turned it into the pretty green shade we see before us today! I won't complain! :P

Next up I have the base color I chose for yesterdays Ringer post, Maybelline Salon Finish Maybe Navy. Maybe Navy is a smooth navy creme polish that dried to a really incredible shine. This is two smooth coats. I really loved the application for this polish.
